She knew authorities and defense attorneys would question her own criminal history, but she still wanted to testify. “It’s not right for anybody to go through that, no matter who they are and what they do,” she said.

Heidi and Trevor Walker of Kingwood tried to get special education for their son Roanin when he entered kindergarten, but they only grew more and more frustrated by the response from school officials. Finally, after two years, they decided to pull him out of school altogether. Roanin has a difficult time with crowds and commotion, but he's just a normal kid at home, his parents say.

In the pre-dawn hours of Christmas Eve, William Spengler Jr. put his home and car in fire and waited for the firefighters to arrive. As the fire officers made it to the area, he open fire killing Mike Chiapperini, 43, and Tomasz Kaczowka, 19. Two other firefighters were injured that morning.

Four months after the incident, the community honored the two firefighters by a placing a permanent marker near the site where the two of them lost their lives.
